BFTF Alumni are amazing people and are involved in amazing activities once they return home. We are going to be updating the alumni section on a regular basis. But a couple of teasers right now:
Georgios Stasinopoulos from Greece (Founder 2007) has been accepted to Yale University and will begin his studies there in the fall of 2008.
Anna Nosenko from the Ukraine (Diplomat 2007) has been accepted to Wake Forest University and she will begin her studies there in the spring of 2008 (next month!!!).
Egle Buitvydaite from Lithuania (Founder 2007) is organizing a reunion together with a friend who works in the EU parliament. The EU parliament allows every parliamentarian to invite up to 60 people in every current year for free. The majority of them usually ask their political partners, supporters and etc. to come. However there are many who use this benefit to invite youth groups, organizations or simply very smart kids, who are interested in politics! As Egle said in a post “…we are going to use this chance and go there for free! In this trip people usually visit EU parliament; NATO HQ , Strasbourg. But because we are going to gather there, because we really want to see each other again, I think that we need to have fun too. So, my friend offers to add London or Paris to this EU trip.” Three guess as to which city the group selected! You can check out the progress of this reunion on Facebook at BFTF reunion ‘08.
Tracy Han from California (Diplomat 2007) is currently studying at Harvard and is involved in Model Union. She writes:
This February, seven fellows from the Ben Franklin Transatlantic Fellows Summer Institute for Youth 2007 and 2006 will attend the Harvard National Model United Nations Conference (HNMUN) in Boston. The conference will take place at the Boston Park Plaza hotel, situated in the heart of downtown Boston, from 14-17 February 2008. HNMUN will draw over 3000 delegates from more than 60 countries around the world. HNMUN is excited to welcome the Fellows to the 54th session of one of the most prestigious and diverse simulations of the United Nations in the world.
The Fellows who will be in attendance are: Ian Borg Bellanti, 07, from Malta, Levan Makhashvili, 07, from Georgia, Aila Marie Nis-Hansen, 06, from Denmark, Jennifer Pullicino, 06, from Malta, Visar Ramaj, 07, from Kosovo, Tatevik Revazian, 07, from Denmark. Tracy Han, 07, from USA, currently a freshman at Harvard, is working on the staff of HNMUN, and has facilitated the recruitment of her BFTF Fellows.
So keep those e-mails coming and let’s keep the Alumni section current. We want to know what you are doing.
